Efficiency Of Trommel Technology
The efficiency of a trommel screen is measured by the amount of material it is able to screen in a given time period and how well it separately the material . Any screen can run material thorugh the unit but the determining factor of product effectiveness and efficiency is how well it screens wet sticky material
WHAT IS THE BESTAPPROCH TO INCREASING THE TROMMEL SCREEN’S CAPACITY WHILE RETAINING MAXIMUM EFFICIENCY ?
The Answer is to increase the available screening area. Standard manufacturing process normally accomplish this in two ways either increase e the length of the drum or increase the drum diameter.
Mayo has discovered another way to increase the efficiency by using smaller diameter wire mesh in the screen pannels this will not weaken the screen mesh because. MVM tensions each screen panel across the entire length of the pannel with a unique clamping system. This strengthen the pannels so much that using a 12 gauge wire is comparable to 7 gauge. Using 12 gauge wire also adds 16 % more screening area in the Mayo Drum when comparing similar drum sizes between Mayo and other manufactured units. Lifting the material in the drum as the drum rotates is also paramount to making use of more screening area. Mayo installs large lifting angles in every unit to assure this is accomplished. Accelerated blades at the in feed end of the trommel drum help spreading material into the drum more evenly. This process stop material from over whelming the screen and blinding the screen pannels.
For a high capacity unit such as the Mayo equal attention is given to material coming in and going out of the unit. This is an area of concern for any system. Mayo has spent considerable time engineering the proper angles of the out feed system to eliminate material buildup. Oversize hoppers and wide conveyors work together to remove the material away from the unit. As Mayo model come with proper control to add a fine or over stacking conveyor
Trommel drums must be fed consistently to make the most efficient use of available screening area.
To avoid over bridging and puncturing of belt due to rocks and concrete are a common occurrence at any site, mayo provides hopper on wide conveyor with 1” X 3” solid steel bars spaced 12” apart which control the feed of rocks and other hole blinding cottons & rags etc. [ on request ]
